The Snellville City Council voted recently to place a 90-day moratorium on permits for churches and religious institutions in shopping centers within the city’s business district. During that time the city will conduct a study to consider the impact of residents and surrounding property owners directly impacted by the operation of these places of worship.

The moratorium does not affect facilities that are currently operating or that have a valid existing conditional use permit. The moratorium begins immediately through Jan. 7, 2018.
