A silo at South Georgia Pecan used to store hulls exploded about 1 p.m. Wednesday, damaging clothing, jewelry and other businesses in downtown Valdosta, according to the Valdosta Daily Times.

No injuries were reported in the incident on South Lee Street, Valdosta Fire Capt. James Clinkscales told the newspaper.

Emergency officials barricaded streets in the area around South Lee Street and they blocked the intersection of South Lee and Wooding Lane for about 30 minutes as they checked for chances of another explosion, Clinkscales told VDT.
