Authorities on Friday identified a man who was killed in a two-boat collision on Lake Allatoona.

Channel 2 Action News confirmed that James Mills, 51, of Taylorsville, died Friday during a crash near Little River Marina off Bells Ferry Road. He was driving one of the boats, according to a Facebook post.

Rescue teams continued to search Friday for Ronnie Bentley, 66, of Canton, Channel 2 confirmed. Crews plan to begin searching again at 8 a.m. Saturday.

Members of the Cherokee County Fire and Emergency Services dive team responded to the scene shortly before 1 p.m. Thursday.

A 68-year-old man who was injured in the collision was taken to WellStar Kennestone Hospital for treatment, officials said. He was conscious and alert. His identity has not been released.

Channel 2 interviewed Isidore Davila, who heard the man’s pleas and helped him get to shore. Davila also helped the rescue teams find the wreckage.

“Please help me quick. I’m about to lose my grip. I can’t hold on any longer is what he said,” Davila said.

“The water's very cold out there,” spokesman Tim Cavender told Channel 2 on Thursday. “It's fortunate that we had one (person) that we were able to get out.”

The Georgia Department of Natural Resources and the Georgia State Patrol have been assisting in the search and rescue effort.
