The Roswell City Council has approved two contracts valued at $345,610 total to replace water lines on Millbrook Circle and Walnut Lane.

Steele & Associates submitted the lowest, responsive bid of eight bidders for the Millbrook water main replacement project, $156,360, and was awarded the job: Installing about 525 linear feet of an 8-inch ductile iron pipe and roughly 700 linear feet of 2-inch polyethylene pipe.

The project seeks to improve pressure and fire flows, add hydrants for fire protection and improve water quality, staff said in a report to the council.

Separately, stand-by contractor Wade Coots Co. submitted the lowest, most responsive bid of three received and was awarded the $189,250 contract to replace two, 2-inch galvanized steel water lines — 824 linear feet on Walnut Lane, and 400 linear feet on Kings Mill Court — with 6-inch ductile iron pipe.

The new pipes will tie into other lines to create a looped system, improving water quality and fire flows in the area, staff said.
