Improved water quality and stormwater drainage are the aims of a permeable paver installation to begin in the coming days and to continue through May for 650 feet of Goulding Place west of Canton Street in historic downtown Roswell.

The Roswell Water and Storm Water divisions will begin by removing some trees and cleaning the shoulder, followed by utility work, including moving water lines, the week of Feb. 20, city officials said.

Water service to nearby homes may be briefly disrupted. The contractor will notify homeowners in advance and will try to schedule outages during off-peak times. During the work, one travel lane of the street will remain open for vehicles.

On or about March 1, the contractor will begin demolishing the roadway, starting at the east end of Goulding near Canton. Goulding will be closed to through traffic at Canton for several weeks; Canton itself will not be affected. A detour will be in place directing traffic to Windy Pines Trail and Thompson Place.

The project is expected to be completed by the end of May.
