One website’s formula says that two cities in north Fulton County are among the best in the country for seniors to retire.

GoodCall.com – a site that says it provides tools, advice and insights to help consumers make smarter life decisions – released its list of the "Best Cities for Seniors to Retire" for 2017. Roswell and Alpharetta cracked the top 100 in the rankings.

Alpharetta was ranked 78th while Roswell came in at 90th. The site’s analysts reviewed 1,662 cities across the United States. Alpharetta ranked high despite just 8.1 percent of its population being people who are 65 and older.

Metrics considered in the rankings included migration rates for those residents, healthcare costs, living costs, percentage of sunny days, education rates, crime rates, home ownership and the quality and number of restaurants and amenities.

The formula ranked comparable cities with many relocating residents, a large number of homeowners, low costs and numerous healthcare options, low crime rates and high numbers of people with bachelor’s degrees or higher. The study noted that the highest rated cities seemed to be smaller – about 45,000 residents – and located in coastal areas.

Chesterfield, Missouri was ranked No. 1 on the list.

Other Georgia cities ranking in the top 100 included Peachtree City at No. 28 and Woodstock at No. 65.
