Crews working on I-75 will disrupt daytime traffic near Big Shanty Road today and Monday.

Workers are blasting rocks near Big Shanty to clear a path from the Northwest Corridor express lanes, according to the Georgia Department of Transportation.

Drivers will be affected if they are heading north from the I-75/I-575 interchange or south from Wade Green Road.

Drivers may want to avoid the area when the works begins at 1 p.m. both today and Monday.

"Motorists are advised to expect delays and exercise caution while driving in these areas," GDOT said.

Message boards should be in place to remind drivers of the dates and times of construction.

GDOT expects the express lanes will be open to traffic early 2018.
