A River Ridge High School junior has won a national research proposal grant. Julia Boll won the $200 grant from the prestigious New York Institute of Technology for her research proposal, "The Effects of Ultraviolet Radiation on Planarian Regeneration," under the mentorship of River Ridge biology teacher Henley Sawicki. Her submission, which also won first-place in the Georgia Science and Engineering Fair regional competition and heads to the state event in March, was chosen for scientific merit and potential impact of an important contribution to the field of science and technology. Julia plans to use the grant to continue her studies throughout the remainder of the school year.
