Cherokee County is holding “Engage Cherokee” target area workshops to update its comprehensive plan for the county and communities of Ball Ground and Waleska.

Workshops are scheduled for 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., Aug. 23, at the Freehome Fire Station, 9253 Freehome Highway, Canton; Aug. 24 at the Hickory Flat Fire Station, 7675 Vaughn Road, Canton; Aug. 29 at the Airport Fire Station, 1190 Evenflo Drive, Ball Ground; Aug. 31 at the Oak Grove Fire Station, 100 Ridgemill Court, Acworth; and Sept. 12 at the Waleska Fire Station, 9081 Fincher Road.

The comprehensive plan addresses such issues as population and housing, transportation, land use, education, economic development, and recreation and green space,solid waste management, infrastructure and community facilities, and natural, historic and cultural resources, according to a kickoff presentation from May. The Board of Commissioners is to approve the document by Oct. 31.
