The Orchard at White Street Park is almost complete, the city of Suwanee said.

The space is already open to the public, but the first community planting in the orchard will take place May 20 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The orchard will be completely open to the public, with organically grown fruit trees, a lawn, a pavilion, nature paths and a children’s play area. The orchard is the newest addition to Harvest Farm, Suwanee’s community garden. It is the one of the largest community gardens in the Southeast, the city said.

“It will be a unique and exceptional space for discovery and exploration, and offer hands-on learning opportunities with a wide variety of fruiting plants,” said Roger Grant, Harvest Farm board member and orchard landscape architect, in a release.
