Due to the icy weather, the Powder Springs Town Hall has been postponed from Jan. 18 to Jan. 30 - also at 7 p.m. at the Ford Center Reception Hall, 4181 Atlanta St., Powder Springs behind the Powder Springs Library.

During that meeting, final plans on the new downtown park and parking are to be presented by Powder Springs officials.

After the Jan. 16 City Council meeting, Powder Springs Mayor Al Thurman told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution the City Council will not be voting on these plans but also that the plans are both “conceptual” and “final.”

Also on Jan. 16, Powder Springs City Manager Pam Conner told The AJC the “final” plans - to be presented during the Town Hall - will come from the options chosen by the public during a Dec. 11 open house.

During the City Council meeting on Jan. 16, about 50 people showed up to voice their disapproval of the proposed parking plan, including Ken and Diane Prevatt of Hand Me Ups, Norm Cornblatt of Pear Tree and Larry and Joan Evans, landlords for the new Marietta Street Cafe and Grill that are scheduled to open in March as separate restaurants.
