No election will be held for Powder Springs City Council Ward 1 since now there is only one candidate.

Alison Feliciano no longer meets the qualifications to run because her qualifying fee check was returned for insufficient funds, according to Janine Eveler, director of the Cobb County Board of Elections and Registration. The remaining candidate, Henry L. Lust, will be certified on Nov. 13 by the Cobb County Board of Elections and Registration in the same manner as if an election were held, Eveler added.

The same is true of Ward 2 Councilwoman Doris J. Dawkins who is unopposed.

However, there still will be a Ward 3 election on Nov. 7 for candidates Nancy Farmer and incumbent Nancy J. Hudson.

The new Council members will serve four-year terms from Jan. 1, 2018 to Jan. 1, 2022.
