A man drew a gun at another person during an argument at the Duluth High School football stadium, Duluth police said.
Virgil Northington, 46, of Covington, was charged with pointing a gun at another and carrying a weapon in a school safety zone Saturday night.
Northington and other parents were at the stadium for a game, which was forfeited Saturday, Sept. 16. The game was a recreational league game, not a Duluth High School football game.
Some parents, including Northington, began to argue after refunds for the game were denied, according to a Facebook post from the Duluth Police Department. As the argument progressed, Northington pulled out a gun and pointed it at the person he was arguing with, the post said.
Northington left the stadium before police arrived, but a witness was able to provide Northington’s license plate number to officers. Police “had [Northington] come back to the location” and arrested him due to “the overwhelming amount of people that witnessed the suspect pull his gun out and on school grounds,” the post said.
Northington was booked into the Gwinnett County Detention Center and posted $5,900 bond shortly before 5 a.m. on Sunday.
