Two proposed, multi-use trail projects that could provide commuters with a new way to get to work are the subjects of a public information open house June 1 in Sandy Springs by the Perimeter Center Community Improvement Districts.

The hearing will go from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the third-floor Georgia Conference Room at 400 NorthPark, 1000 Abernathy Road NE, Sandy Springs. Concepts and drawings will be displayed, and staff will be on hand to take comments.

The trails would be for pedestrian and bicyclists. One would run along the west side of Ashford Dunwoody Road between Hammond Drive and Perimeter Center West, and the other, along the west side of Peachtree Dunwoody Road between Hammond and Central Parkway.

The aim is to provide transportation options and improve bike and pedestrian access to MARTA, reduce the number of commuter car trips by increasing MARTA use by Perimeter workers and residents, and offer mobility to non-motorized users in the area, according to the Perimeter CIDs.

The organization is the combination of the Central (DeKalb) Perimeter and Fulton Perimeter Community Improvement Districts.
