Thirty people who were displaced by a fire Monday night in Union City are receiving emergency aid from American Red Cross volunteers, an official said.

The fire was at the Shannon Lake Apartments in the 6700 block of Buffington Road in south Fulton County, Red Cross spokeswoman Sherry Nicholson said. Nine units are uninhabitable.

Caseworkers have provided resources such as lodging, food and clothing, Nicholson said. Additional assistance will be provided to help the affected people recover.
