The Peachtree Corners City Council voted Tuesday to provide Smart Cities Technology at the Town Center development scheduled to open in 2018. CH2M is the provider for the technology costing $474,440 and includes 15 LED lights, 251 smart parking sensors, seven digital signs, seven Wi-Fi access points, seven cameras, and the analytics platform.

Smart lighting will allow the city to monitor and control the city’s new LED lighting for increased safety and cost savings. The technology’s smart parking sensors will allow drivers seeking parking to know the number of available parking spaces in the parking garage and on the surface streets at Town Center.

Wi-Fi connectivity will allow the city to monitor the lighting and parking technology as well as provide public Wi-Fi to the community. The Wi-Fi landing page will also allow the city to offer a calendar of town events, a listing of local eateries and information on things to do in the town, as well as information about safety information in the event of road closures or weather events.
