Peachtree City’s police department is collecting disaster relief donations for delivery to victims of Hurricane Florence in North and South Carolina.

The department says it is trying to get ahead of the disaster by getting supplies to the affected areas quickly. A transfer truck parked outside the police headquarters building at 350 Hwy. 74 South near Crosstown Drive will be used to store and deliver the items. The department is asking for public donations of cases of water, unopened bags of diapers and baby wipes, bug spray, sealed snack products and such personal items as shampoo, soap, toothpaste and toothbrushes.

The city asks that clothing, shoes or perishable food items not be donated.
