The Atlanta Journal-Constitution’s premium political site, Politically Georgia, is seeking a contractor to work 40 hours a week with the Politics Team to produce its daily newsletter, help distribute content via social media and create content for the site.

Digital Audience Specialists must be proactive and display a strong sense of urgency, energy and creativity. The audience specialist has a deep understanding of our business and audience goals and a deep commitment to audience and platform knowledge.

Job duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Assemble a daily newsletter
  • Build pages, create story packages/presentations (including, but not limited to photo galleries, maps, polls and quizzes).
  • Story optimization -- Rewrite headlines to make them more compelling for digital audience; add strong visuals, video, multimedia, contextual links and related content, tagging content for various purposes. Optimize content for search engine discovery.
  • Assist in managing social media platforms, including a private Facebook group for subscribers.

Key requirements: 

  • Have studied journalism, communication or related discipline
  • Knowledge of AP style
  • Ability to work in a high-energy, fast-paced environment
  • Ability to collaborate effectively
  • Self-starter who can initiate and execute new ideas
