Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed along with Russell McMurry, commissioner of Georgia Department of Transportation and G.P. “Bud” Peterson, president of Georgia Tech will celebrate the launch of the North Avenue Smart Corridor Demonstration Project at 10:30 a.m. Sept. 14.

The North Avenue Smart Corridor Demonstration Project, funded by the Renew Atlanta Infrastructure Bond, leverages multiple “smart” technologies that will convert data into actionable information to transform operations in this important corridor.

The project deploys the latest technology in adaptive signal systems for a safer and more efficient flow of all modes of transportation. The technology also facilitates improved emergency response by prioritizing fire engines and ambulances traveling through the corridor.

The event will take place at the amphitheater located at the North Avenue entrance of Ponce City Market, 675 Ponce de Leon Ave., NE, Atlanta. It will also feature an autonomous vehicle demonstration.
