The Norcross City Council recently approved exterior design plans for a new library branch. When built, the new library will replace the existing facility at 6025 Buford Highway.

The new building, to be located adjacent to Lillian Webb Park on Buford Highway will be twice the size of the existing library with 22,000 square feet. The facility will feature a community room, computer services and interactive programs.

The exterior design by CAS Architecture is reminiscent of 1960s mid-century modern design with contemporary features including a glass wall facing Lillian Webb Park, a covered patio area, open-air plaza area and exterior staircase connecting to Buford Highway. Parking for the facility will be on a lower deck under the facility.

The joint city-county project now requires Gwinnett commissioners to approve the design and request bids for construction.
