Today is the first day you can get a beef patty on top of a veggie burger in Gwinnett County: BurgerFi, a “chef-driven” hamburger restaurant, has opened in Lawrenceville.

The shop is run by brothers Shahravi and Hasnain Lakhani. At ages 25 and 21, it’s their first venture into the culinary world.

“We are excited to introduce Gwinnett County to our unrivaled better burger offerings in a fun, family dining experience” Shahravi Lakhani said in a release. “We look forward to eventually expanding our footprint and bringing our modern twist to great-tasting food to other surrounding communities as well.”

The menu ranges from traditional hamburgers and veggie burgers to a Wagyu-and-brisket patty topped with truffle aioli. The "Conflicted Burger” pairs a house-made veggie patty with traditional beef, sure to horrify vegetarians everywhere.

The Lawrenceville location on Duluth Highway is the sixth in Georgia, joining three in Atlanta, one in Kennesaw and one in Alpharetta.

In 2022, Georgia Power projected its winter peak electricity demand would grow by about 400 megawatts by 2031. Since then, Georgia has experienced a boom of data centers, which require a large load of electricty to run, and Georgia Power's recent forecast shows peak demand growing by 20 times the 400-megawatt estimate from just three years ago.
