Cyclists, strap on your helmets and gloves. Roswell has a bike-sharing program coming to town.

City officials announced Thursday its new partnership with bike-sharing provider, Zagster. The city's new Zagster station will open at Big Creek Park on Old Alabama Road on Oct. 17.

Any bike trips under three hours are free.

The Roswell station will connect to four other Zagster stations in Alpharetta — three along the Alpharetta portion of the Big Creek Greenway and another at the Avalon shopping center. Each Zagster cruiser bike features adjustable seats, eight gears, automatic lights, a bell and a front basket.

The bike-sharing program is a way for residents to stay fit and improve overall health, wellness and mobility, said Morgan Rodgers, the city’s director of parks, historic and cultural affairs.

A ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new bike-sharing station is scheduled for 4 p.m. Monday at the Big Creek Greenway’s entrance on 1600 Old Alabama Road.

The Roswell station will connect to four other Zagster stations throughout the county.
