Hours after a burglar drove a car through a Henry County garage door, someone fired shots into the home about 1 a.m. Saturday, police said.

The house on Buckingham Place was ransacked Friday after a car drove through the garage, Channel 2 Action News reported.

Though no one was injured when someone fired shots at the home Saturday, the family and neighbors are worried because they do not know who targeted the house or why.

Neighbor Daisy Langston heard the shots and thought it was a storm. She told Channel 2 she is terrified to think that something like this happened across the street from her.

“Lord have mercy,” Langston said. “Sometimes my grandkids are here. That really is scary, especially when you don’t know why they’re doing things.”

But another neighbor, Carvas Jones, suspects nefarious activity at the targeted house and says he’s noticed suspicious behavior.

"Everyone is thinking that there's drug trafficking," Jones said. "When you've got people honking their horns, you know, pulling into your driveway, banging on your door and saying, 'Oops. I was looking for the next house over,' and it happens all the time, we understand what that is."

The president of the homeowner's association told Channel 2 there are surveillance cameras and a license plate reader at the entrance of the neighborhood.

Jones said it's too little, too late.

"It's very disturbing,” Jones said. “Just from the amount of times police have been called over here. We're ready to leave. We're moving. That's it."

Anyone with information on the case is asked to contact Henry County Police.
