Mexican restaurant in Cobb re-inspected after dirty kitchen issues

Georgia has rules it requires every food service operation to follow. These are just a few of the many health and safety regulations.

Update:

La Casita passed its Wednesday re-inspection with an 82, even though an inspector noted a supposedly cleaned knife found with an "accumulation of food debris."

Original (published June 25, 2018):

A Mexican eatery has failed its restaurant inspection in part for having a messy kitchen, according to Cobb County health department records.

La Casita, 2325 Powder Springs Road in Marietta, scored a 68 on Friday. Any score below a 70 is considered failing.

The inspector reported finding a “heavy accumulation” of food debris on a can opener, slicers and microwave oven in addition to the cooler and freezer. There were also grease stains on the ventilation hoods.

La Casita was also cited for having tomatoes, lettuce, rice, ham and cheese at unsafe temperatures.

Margarita Franco, a manager, told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution that all the issues had been fixed.

Follow-up inspections are usually done within 10 days of the original evaluation.
