To those of you with visions of sugar plums dancing in your heads, take note.

Two of the most popular games available through the Georgia Lottery are offering combined jackpots that are currently worth more than $500 million.

The jackpot for Powerball, which has a drawing Wednesday night, is at $269 million, according to the Georgia Lottery website. The jackpot has rolled 15 times since Oct. 28, according to lottery officials.

And the Mega Millions jackpot grew to $247 million when no one won Tuesday’s drawing. No one has cashed in on this jackpot in 18 drawings since Oct. 17.

But as many people already know, the odds against winning either jackpot are overwhelming — 1 in about 302 million for Mega Millions, 1 in about 292 million for Powerball.

Tickets for both lotteries are $2 each. They are available at many retailers, and people can play online, too.

If you win big, you’ll have two options to receive your money. You can take an immediate payout or graduated payments spread over several years.

Wednesday night’s drawing, like all drawings for both games, can be viewed at 11 p.m., right before Channel 2 Action News Nightbeat.
