Congestion on Ga. 400

A giant turbine rotor is expected to heavily affect metro Atlanta traffic tonight, according to a statement by the Georgia DOT.

Cobb, Fulton and DeKalb were identified as counties that should expect heavy delays from 10:20 p.m Tuesday to 1 a.m. Wednesday.

The transport rig is scheduled to travel through I-75 in Cobb and Fulton, I-285 in Fulton and I-20 in DeKalb counties, according to GDOT. Traffic may be slowed or even stopped at some points.

The 383,000-pound transport rig is scheduled to leave Rome at 8 p.m. Tuesday and reach Savannah by midnight Wednesday, according to GDOT.

The Georgia Department of Transportation advises motorists to exercise extreme caution around the turbine rotor and follow instructions from law enforcement escorts.
