MARTA looking to recruit 20 new officers at July info session

MARTA police patrol the gates at the West Lake MARTA station Friday, April 14, 2017, a day after a shooting on a train left a man dead and three people injured. The transit system is looking to hire 20 new officers.

 The Georgia Department of Labor  will hold an informational session and recruitment for MARTA to hire 20 police officers.

Applicants must be at least 21, and are required to have one or more of the following:

  • at least two years of college
  • two years minimum as a POST certified peace officer, corrections officer or jailer
  • a completed term of honorable military service
  • a completed pre-service academy course

A physical exam, background check, drug screening and psychological testing are also required of all applicants.

Salaries will be based on experience. Pay starts at $36,670 and tops out at $56,430 for a senior officer.

The company is offering a $3,000 signing bonus for certified officers and $1,000 for non-certified officers.

The event will be held July 22 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at MARTA headquarters, 2424 Piedmont Road. Applicants may apply online to expedite the interview process, and should bring a completed application and resume to the event.
