The Marietta Welcome Center and Visitors Bureau is relocating temporarily to the Marietta Museum of History during renovations of the historic train depot, which houses the welcome center.

Work is expected to be completed in the spring for the depot that was rebuilt in 1898 after built in 1864, then burned down by Union General William Tecumseh Sherman.

The depot will receive renovations to the plumbing system, improved access to the new American Disabilities Act-compliant restroom facilities, a new roof and repaving with brick or concrete pavers on Mill Street sidewalks and McNeel Alley, said spokesperson Lindsey Wiles.

Next door to the depot, the museum is in the Kennesaw House at 1 Depot St.

The welcome center’s hours of operation and contact information will remain the same during the relocation — 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday to Friday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and closed on Sundays.
