The other shoe has dropped for 9,000 students of Marietta City Schools.

Marietta’s board of education voted in a special meeting called Friday to morph one teacher work day into a day of classes due to recent inclement weather.

Tammy Garnes, district spokeswoman, said students will need to be at their desks March 12, which is a Monday.

A week ago, some parts of Cobb saw 1½ inches of snow that kept freezing and thawing and refreezing, prompting hundreds of crashes and 100 potholes.

Between the snow and tropical storms, Marietta students have missed more than a week of classes this year.

While the area was reeling from the recent ice and snow, Marietta superintendent Grant Rivera tried to give folks an idea of his gameplan.

School districts throughout metro Atlanta have had to make this decision; Fulton County schools announced three make-up days, DeKalb County added two days; Atlanta Public Schools added time instead of whole days.

The Cobb County School District said it won't be adding days.
