A man is dead and a second person is in custody following a Saturday morning shooting at a motel in Marietta.

A Marietta Police spokesman said officers arrested Raheem Demon Stingley of Marietta on a count of felony homicide in the shooting death of Antrell Hicks-Davis. Hicks-Davis, whose age and address were not immediately known, was shot once in the abdomen at a Motel 6 in the 2300-block of Delk Road, a police news release said.

The shooting happened before 10 a.m. When officers arrived, Stingley told police he had shot a man, later identified as Hicks-Davis, in the motel parking lot, the news release said.

Hicks-Davis was pronounced dead at Kennestone Hospital.

Police said Stingley told authorities he and Hicks-Davis had an altercation over a woman. Stingley is being held at the Cobb County jail. No attorney was listed for Stingley in jail records.

“The accused was cooperative with the police and the investigation,” Officer Chuck McPhilamy, a department spokesman, said.
