Roswell’s Fire Department got a new truck earlier this week and it didn’t cost a dime.

That’s because the truck — a 2016 GMC 2500 HD pickup – was donated to the fire department by Carl Black Roswell, a local dealership.

The truck is valued at $45,872 and is the fourth donation from the dealership to the firefighters. It replaces a truck the dealership donated in 2008. The trucks are used to tow the department’s “Fire & Life Safety Center,” also known as the smoke trailer.

There is about $9,000 worth of equipment that must go in the truck, but the fire department will only have to pay for about half of that as Black is covering the rest.

“Carl Black has been a valued supporter of the fire department,” said Rick Burnette, Roswell’s fire chief. “Our small price to pay for the equipment in the truck is small compared to the generosity they have shown us through such a large donation. We are so grateful.”

The truck will be used by Community Risk Reduction, part of the Roswell Fire Marshal’s Office. The truck will be appearing all around north Fulton County for public education, public relations, Safe Kids North Fulton and CERT activities.
