A liquor store located near the I-85 construction site wanted to do something nice for the workers, so they brought them something to drink.

Something non-alcoholic to drink, anyway.

And along with soda, water and lemonade, Tower served cookies and chips with burgers donated by Grindhouse.

The gesture on Wednesday was well-received by the construction workers, Tower spokeswoman Lindsay Berg said.

“They all were thanking us, which was funny because we were going over there to thank them, because it really helped business when they opened Piedmont Road,” she said.

Tower thanked Grindhouse for providing the food on Twitter, calling the burgers a “huge hit.” Grindhouse replied: “It's the least we could do! Cheers to the folks hard at work getting #I85 back on two feet.”

Tower hopes to collaborate with another nearby restaurant to offer food to the night crew next week, so they “don’t feel out,” Berg said.

Workers are rebuilding the I-85 bridge after a massive fire caused it to crumble on March 30.

Tower and Grindhouse are located at 2161 Piedmont Road NE and 1842 Piedmont Ave. NE, respectively.
