A lightning strike caused a massive fire at a home in Lawrenceville on Thursday, leading to heavy damage.

Gwinnett County firefighters responded to the blaze at 7:24 p.m. They entered the home, which was burning from the attic, and began to fight the fire, but were forced out when the flames began to break through the roof, a Gwinnett County Fire and Emergency Services spokesman said.

No one was home during the fire and no firefighters were injured. The residents of the Ozora Church Road house were out of town when the fire began but have spoken with the fire department’s incident commander.
