Lee Byrd Road in Loganville will be closed to local traffic only from Highway 81 to Bay Creek Road beginning July 5. The construction to replace a culvert is expected to take three to four weeks.

This is the second of two culvert projects on Lee Byrd Road. As a portion of the project will directly impact traffic around Bay Creek Elementary School, both city officials and school officials are hoping work will end before the beginning of the next school year on Aug. 2.

Culverts are typically concrete boxes or large pipes that allow water to flow under a road at natural drainage or stream crossings. This second culvert on Lee Byrd Road is about 1/4 mile north of Bay Creek Road at Big Flat Creek. The current structure will be replaced with two 10-foot by 12-foot culverts that will include the relocation of an 8-inch water line.

The project is being paid for by the city from the capital recovery profram.
