A Forsyth County man hired a moving company to safely transport his belongings, yet some of his prized possessions wound up stolen, according to a lawsuit.
The Dec. 30 suit alleges that two Best Deal Movers employees, Errol Vannoy and John Dewayne Perry, stole 15 bottles of 2007 V. Sattui Winery Cabernet Sauvingnon from Farokh Mazahery's home in September.
The filing says Mazahery had purchased each bottle for $250, totaling $3,750, plus tax and shipping costs.
Perry, of DeKalb County, has been convicted for “felony entering auto,” according to the lawsuit. The moving company “knew or should have known” of the employees’ criminal history, propensity for theft and intention to take property, it says.
In addition, the filing alleges that the company instructed the employees to take Mazahery’s property.
Owner Tom Becker said Best Deal Movers “is not party to anything like that.” The company will continue to cooperate to resolve the issue, he said.
Becker said Vannoy and Perry no longer work with the company, but would not comment further because it’s a legal matter.
Mazahery seeks damages. His attorney, Saeed Mahallati, declined to comment.
Best Deal Movers’ is based in Forsyth County at 1360 Union Hill Road, Alpharetta. The company, Vannoy, of Fulton County, and Perry are named in the lawsuit.
