In something of a housekeeping measure, the Lawrenceville City Council approved a resolution recently to expand the Downtown Development Authority. The addition includes parcels adjoining the current Gwinnett Rockdale and Newton Health District offices between Riverside Drive and Old Norcross Road, the new city public works facility property on Pike Street and property adjoining the new public works property to the rear along the railroad to Maltbie Street.

The move fills in some gaps in the Downtown Development Authority’s jurisdiction area. The Lawrenceville DDA serves as a resource for entering and exiting business in the downtown area by developing real property and local enterprise.

Completed projects of the Lawrenceville DDA include resurgence of the downtown area with the addition of parking garages, sidewalk projects, regulations and building codes and downtown ordinances and regulations.
