A public art agreement has been approved between Kennesaw State University and the city of Kennesaw. The Kennesaw City Council voted for the agreement on May 1. This agreement allows the city to commission KSU faculty and students in the art department to create art for public spaces in downtown.

Art pieces will be commissioned once a design is selected, scope and cost are defined and a funding source is identified. The city will reimburse KSU for cost of materials. Also, the city will transport and help install pieces. KSU will provide the design and fabrication for free.

A selection committee will be comprised of representatives from city staff, the Kennesaw Arts and Culture Commission and the Kennesaw Downtown Development Authority.

The first installation being considered will be sculptural benches in a new landscaped area at the Southern Museum of Civil War and Locomotive History.
