Retail giant J.C. Penney has flipped its message over the past few months.

In February, it announced it would close 138 stores nationwide, including five in Georgia. Then in April, it told USA Today it would be delaying those closings to July 31.

And now, J.C. Penney is hiring thousands at its stores nationwide as it gears up for its back-to-school rush. For stores in metro Atlanta, the company says it will hire 350 associates.

In a press release, the company said it will hire people for customer service and support positions, cashiers, specialists, beauty consultants, stylists and other positions in metro Atlanta.

J.C. Penney says it offers its employees competitive pay, discounts up to 25%, flexible scheduling and opportunities for advancement. Salon stylists for the company get training, health benefits, paid time off and are eligible for a 401K.

More than 100 J.C. Penney jobs for Atlanta and surrounding areas are now listed on Indeed.com.

The company says that interested applicants should apply in-store using its applicant kiosk, or online by visiting JCPcareers.com.
