By a 3-2 margin on Feb. 22, the Fayette County Board of Commissioners declined to launch an independent investigation of alleged misconduct by its 911 Communications Center director, Bernard “Buster” Brown.

Commissioners Steve Brown and Charles Rousseau supported the idea based on testimony from three former 911 employees who claimed the director’s conduct, which resulted in a written reprimand, had created a hostile work environment. However, current employees told the commissioners that the center now operates harmoniously.

Chairman Eric Maxwell said he saw no need for further inquiry since emergency services were not adversely affected by the personnel conflict.
