Historical Roswell home to be turned into coffee shop

A longtime Roswell couple intends to turn a historical site in Roswell into a cafe, according to city documents.

Sandra Pettett and her husband Perry plan to transform the Campbell Cottage on Canton Street from a law office into an independent coffee shop and bookstore.

"We are in the business of renovation," Sandra Pettett told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution. "We just had a few things going on in our lives. We decided to turn into this direction."

The cafe, which will serve coffee, lunch and desserts, is expected to open this fall, Pettett said.

The Roswell Historic Preservation Commission approved several renovation plans for the historical site in May and June.

The couple told the commission they will perform minimal exterior changes to the property.

The folk Victorian built in the early 1900s was falling into disrepair, according to Pettett.

The couple had plans to convert the Campbell Cottage from a law office into a bed and breakfast, according to an agenda item document. Mrs. Pettett said she and her husband are no longer considering those plans.
