Hey teachers: Saturday is your chance to get into Zoo Atlanta for free

Zoo Atlanta has released the results of a necropsy of Emerson, their rare tiger. The 10-year-old Sumatran tiger died of cancer of the bile duct, doctors said. The tiger had been showing signs of lethargy and a declining appetite. Emerson's death was a blow to Atlanta's animal community.

Educators, cancel your Saturday plans. You’re going to Zoo Atlanta for free.

The 2018 spring Educator Appreciation Day allows teachers free admission and discounts for guests from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The discount applies to active and retired teachers, local and out-of-state educators, homeschool parents, informal educators, administrative support staff and active Georgia PTA members. Educators must present a valid educator ID or relevant documentation and a photo ID for the discounts.

Family members and guests with educators get $2 off general admission on the day of the event. Educators receive 10 percent off food at Wild Planet Cafe and gift shop purchases.

Same-day registration will be available at the educator check-in area located across from Zoo Admissions. The promotion is sponsored by PNC.

See the event page for more information.

Then if you're looking for more free stuff to do Saturday, pop on over to the Center for Puppetry Arts.
