Nearly a quarter-million dollars will be coming back to Henry County as reimbursement for hurricane damages.

The Henry County Board of Commissioners voted Aug. 21 to approve a resolution to accept reimbursements from the state of Georgia in the amount of $249,926.20, as a part of a presidential declaration, for damages to the county caused by Hurricane Irma.

“President Trump declared Disaster Resolution 4338 and these are funds that we were able to recoup for expenses that the county incurred including debris management, protective measures and damages to county properties,” said county emergency management agency director Don Ash. “Those funds were generated through the presidential declaration’s process and the paperwork we filed on behalf of the county’s damages.”
