The Henry County Board of Commissioners approved acceptance of a $1,500 Walmart Community Grant for the Henry County Police Department’s Community Orientation Policing Services Unit. The action took place at the board’s regular August meeting.
Funds from this grant will go to the Henry County C.O.P.S. Unit’s National Night Out event on Oct. 26. The annual community-building campaign promotes partnerships between neighbors and law enforcement.
National Night Out was initiated by the National Association of Town Watch in 1984. NATW is a non-profit organization dedicated to the development and promotion of crime prevention in communities across the nation. The association is comprised of law enforcement agencies, neighborhood watch groups, civic groups, state and regional crime prevention associations and concerned citizens.
