A Gwinnett County home has extensive damage after a Tuesday morning fire, Gwinnett County Fire and Emergency Services said.

The home in unincorporated Stone Mountain caught fire shortly before 11:45 am., when a resident saw fire coming from the home’s second floor.

Most of the fire was contained to two upstairs bedrooms, a bathroom and a hallway, but there was substantial smoke and water damage to much of the main floor. No one was injured.

Firefighters had to pull much of the sheet rock from the second floor to put out the fire in the home on Smoke Rise Court Northwest.

The fire is likely accidental, said Gwinnett County Fire and Emergency Services. Investigators have not ruled out that it was caused by an electrical issue.

Gwinnett fire Capt. Tommy Rutledge said the fire was a good reminder to install smoke alarms throughout your home and check for fire hazards.
