Eli Barojas Ramirez has been charged with criminal trespass, gang activity and 10 counts of aggravated assault.

A self-proclaimed gang member is being held without bond in the Gwinnett County Detention Center on 10 aggravated assault charges, records show.

The charges stem from a Feb. 18 incident, when police say Eli Barojas Ramirez and two other members of the “201” gang shot at a group of men and smashed a car window near a Lawrenceville trailer park.

The victims were playing basketball in a park when Ramirez and the two men began yelling at them, saying they were on their territory, according to the detective on the case.

Police say Mario Hernandez, who is not in custody, began shooting “in the general direction of the victims” and Ramirez smashed the victims’ car window with brass knuckles as they tried to flee.

Ramirez, Hernandez and a third man were shouting “201” and telling the victims to “get out his hood” during the attack, the detective said. 201 is believed to be a subset of the La Familia gang. Ramirez told the police that there are about 20 members of 201 in Lawrenceville and Duluth.
