When Joe Kain heard his daughter’s teacher couldn’t find a suitable hammock for her classroom, he decided to build one himself.

Kain, an engineer with TSI Solutions, designed and built the hammock for Lisa Trantham's second grade class at Rosebud Elementary School in Loganville, and his employer donated the materials.

Trantham had wanted to add a hammock to the classroom because of the calming and focusing effects it has for special needs children, but couldn’t find one that was right. Kain wanted to give back to Trantham and Rosebud Elementary after seeing the progress his daughter, Mckayla, had made in Trantham’s class.

“I look forward to continuing to provide them as much support as I can, including my professional engineering services, assembly and maintenance and materials,” Kain said in a Gwinnett County Schools release. “I want to make sure every child in the program has the best therapy equipment possible so that they can enjoy a learning environment that will nurture their special and, many times, unique needs.”
