Bacote, who also goes by “Los,” was arrested on Feb. 12 on an outstanding warrant for aggravated assault. Bacote allegedly fired several gunshots into a car occupied by a 23-year-old man on Nov. 12, 2017. The man was unharmed and fled the scene on foot, leaving the car at JSD Apartments on Sarah Court in Norcross. The victim and witnesses to the shooting were reluctant to identify Bacote because they were afraid of reprisal, according to a department release.

Bacote has been identified as a person of interest in several "violent crimes," including a homicide that occurred in Norcross on Jan. 14, according to the release. Joe Love, 42, was shot and killed inside his apartment on Rockbridge Court, leaving behind 8 children and a fiancee.

Bacote is “well known” by residents of the area around Rockbridge Court Apartments, where Love was killed, police said. Those people have been reluctant to speak to police, according to the release.

“Detectives hope that Bacote’s arrest will give witnesses peace of mind to come forward,” said Sgt. Jake Smith, a spokesman for the department. Bacote is currently being held without bond at the Gwinnett County Detention Center.

Anyone with information about Bacote should call detectives at 770-513-5302.
