The City of Snellville has raised $10,000 to add a new member to its police squad.

The Snellville Police Department already has three K-9 officers. A golf tournment last week brought in $10,000 of the $14,000 it will cost to add a fourth dog to the department.

The department’s K-9 unit was designed to have four officer-dog “teams.” After the recent retirement of one team, the department is planning to add a new one as soon as February 2018.

“Our teams have been responsible for numerous arrests, found significant quantities of narcotics, located missing persons and property and many other services that keep our community safe,” said Snellville Police Chief Roy Whitehead.
