Gwinnett Clean and Beautiful’s “Bring One for the Chipper” event has been rescheduled for Jan. 28 due to forecasted thunderstorms.

The event, dedicated to turning Christmas trees into mulch, was originally scheduled for Saturday morning, but the weather forecast put a damper on those plans.  It will now occur next Saturday, Jan. 28, in Lawrenceville’s Bethesda Park from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m.

“We regret any inconvenience the rescheduling of Bring One for the Chipper may cause our partners and volunteers, but the safety of all involved is paramount,” said Schelly Marlatt, executive director of Gwinnett Clean and Beautiful.

With an extra week to wait to put your tree in a woodchipper, there's additional time to register to volunteer. Gwinnett Clean and Beautiful has volunteer release forms on its website.

And, really, if you still have your Christmas tree up by Jan. 28, it’s time to get rid of it.
