Three Cobb athletic fields will be converted from Bermuda grass to synthetic turf because of a 5-0 vote of the Cobb County Board of Commissioners on Tuesday, Dec. 14.

Mud Creek Soccer Complex, 5600 Ernest Barrett Parkway, Marietta; Hubert Soccer Complex, 3412 Cobb Parkway, Acworth and one field at Terrell Mill Park, 480 Terrell Mill Road, Marietta will receive the new turf for $187,700 from Gaskins Surveying Inc.

Reasons are “lower maintenance costs, increased programming opportunities and improved playability,” wrote Cobb Support Services Agency Director Eddie Canon in a Tuesday memo to Cobb County Manager David Hankerson.

“This conversion has been consistently requested by the volunteer athletic associations active in each of these parks for several years,” Canon added.
